West Africa Automotive Show Conference expands

Three day event will feature cutting-edge solutions to develop vehicle parts supply.

Sustainability, affordability and adoption of new technologies will be core topics at this year’s Conference at the West Africa Automotive Show.

With the theme of ‘Access to Automotive Components and Parts in West Africa’, the Conference has invited key policy makers and influencers to discuss how to develop better quality components with greater supply consistency. This will cover local manufacturing and the regional supply chain, and the role of Government and the private sector in developing policy and investment to drive industry growth.

The Conference will also examine the potential of sustainable mobility, and developments such as transitioning to low-carbon fuels including compressed natural gas (CNG), electric vehicles (EV) and other new technologies. Nigeria is seeing the rollout of the Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) with objectives around cheaper gas, cleaner emission and job creation.

Running from May 13th to 15th as part of Africa’s largest trade event for auto parts and aftermarket vehicle services, the free-to-attend Conference has become a significant forum for shaping automotive policy in Nigeria and beyond. The Conference chairman is Luqman Mamudu, former Director at the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) and Principal Partner/CEO at Transtech.

“The Conference will present high-level discussions on challenges and opportunities in the West African automotive market, with a focus on accessibility of part and components, affordability, and adoption of new technologies,” he says.

“The West Africa Automotive Show is more than just an exhibition—it’s a crucial platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and business growth in the automotive sector. This year’s event will spotlight cutting-edge technologies, sustainable solutions, and strategic discussions on how the industry can adapt to evolving trends, including the shift towards cleaner energy sources like CNG, EVs, and hydrogen fuels.

“Whether you’re an industry leader, policymaker, or entrepreneur, WAAS 2025 is where you need to be to stay ahead in this transformative era.”

Mr Mamudu says visitors to the WAAS expo can benefit from the unmatched opportunities to forge partnerships with industry leaders, government representatives, and international investors. “Visitors will be able to gain insights from experts on trends like EV adoption, funding alternatives, alternative fuels, and local manufacturing opportunities.

“They will also be able to discover business opportunities with global and regional suppliers looking to expand in West Africa. A third key point is that they can learn from case studies on successful policies, infrastructure development, and investment models driving the industry forward.”

Among the speakers will be Joseph Osanipin, Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC). He will give a keynote speech on national and regional automotive sector policy relating to ICE, EV and CNG vehicle parts trade and development.

Other speakers will include: Ngozi Emechebe, President of the Auto Spare Parts & Machinery Dealers Association (ASPMDA): Kojo Annobil, Director, Ghana Automotive Development Centre; and Dele Kelvin Oye, President, Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA).
